Trash pickups before 7 a.m. banned in Richmond after noise complaints
You can hit snooze on an alarm clock -- but you can't do the same to a garbage truck. But if you're used to early morning wake-up calls from trash pickup, you may be able to throw those concerns away soon.
At a Richmond City Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 9, council members voted to ban trash pickup before 7 a.m. after heightened noise complaints from residents. Previously, the City — or private companies — could pick up solid waste as early as around 4 a.m. some mornings.
However, industry professionals like Bobby Vincent, Jr. with the City of Richmond's Department of Public Works, as well as Dan Ciesla with Republic Services, aren't too happy about the change.
