Planned Parenthood plan met with support, opposition in Richmond
The plan to build a Planned Parenthood clinic in Richmond's Northside is being met with both support and opposition.
In July, the members of Richmond City Council voted unanimously to allow the sale of the former Brook Hill School, which is located at 4929 Chamberlayne Avenue, for $10 to Planned Parenthood, which plans to build a clinic on the property.
The Family Foundation of Virginia, a Christian lobbying group which opposes abortion, filed a lawsuit -- which included a motion for a temporary restraining order -- in an attempt to temporarily block the transfer of land. Earlier this week, that motion was denied by a Richmond judge.
