Anchor links are great for streamlining your layout and making your page more interactive.
Let's see how to use an anchor link to replace a busy reply form at the top of a landing page with a simple button. When visitors click the button they'll zoom straight to the main reply form at the bottom of the page.
Begin by previewing the page with the button you’ve already created.
Scroll down to view the form you want the button to link to.
We’ll need to know the exact URL for this form, so right-click on the last section and select “inspect”.
In this side window you can see that this section has an ID named “SECTION6”. We’ll double click and copy it, then close this window and get back to the design.
Right click on the button, select “change settings” and paste “section6” into the “Insert a web address” field. For the address to work we’ll also need to add a hash sign before it. Click apply and save the page.
Now you’re ready to preview your changes. Sure enough, when you click the button you jump instantly to the reply form at the bottom of the page. But let's make that jump a little less sudden and a little more natural and fluid by turning it into a smooth scroll instead.
To create your scrolling effect, head back to the design, click “page settings”, mouse over to the “scripts & styles” tab, and click on the JS (or Javascript) icon. Select “add new script”, keep the default script location (head), and give your script an easy-to-remember name. Once you’ve copied in the code click “apply”, close the “Custom Scripts” window and, as we did before, save and preview the finished page.
Now clicking the button scrolls visitors quickly and smoothly to the reply form at the bottom of the page.
