WORKSHOP: SUPERVISION FOR PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN THE FIELD OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE
The workshop aims to focus on the supervisor’s role in supporting staff working in the field of sexual violence and the impact of the work on the staff members, the helping relationship with survivors and the supervisor and supervisee. Zaffira Shah will offer some tools for reflection as a supervisor/supervisee on the core functions of supervision, introduce models to support effective supervision and good practice for supervision. The workshop will be interactive with opportunities for reflection, contribution and engaging with colleagues on the workshop. The workshop will be of interest to supervisors and supervisees.
Zaffira Shah has a background in social work practice with women and children including those who have been impacted by sexual abuse. Zaffira currently works as an independent safeguarding consultant and trainer with a special interest in supervising staff who work with abuse and trauma. Zaffira is an associate consultant with the NSPCC training service and delivers post recovery therapeutic work with children training and supervision training for managers supervising this work.
