Because every child has the right to study, the ILO, @WFP and UNICEF, together with the Government of Norway, supported the Government of Madagascar until 2015 – 2019 to provide access to education for the most vulnerable children in the districts of Anosy, Androy and Atsimo Andrefana in the south of the country.
This support takes three forms:
• Teacher training (11.364 teachers) and the provision of teaching materials in around 4.000 schools, supported by UNICEF
• The establishment of a school canteen in 350 schools with 70.520 children beneficiaries , supported by WFP
• The construction of 158 classrooms and a dining hall in 97 schools, supported by the ILO
Unfortunately, given limited resources the classrooms, dining halls and school canteens are only available to a limited number of students per year.
