Last week, 80 I-Kiribati workers departed quarantine in Grantham, to begin work in Queensland.

This is the first recruitment of aged care workers for Queensland employers since Australia’s borders closed due to COVID-19. Thirty-two will work in aged care facilities in rural and regional Queensland. Nine will work in Far North Queensland, while 23 will work at aged care communities in Longreach, Bowen and Emu Park.

The remaining 58 I-Kiribati workers will support businesses in the meat processing sector including 8 who will work at Western Games Processing in Longreach.
