Patients with skeletal deformity and joint pathology (temporomandibular joint diseases): How to manage these cases?
When the patient comes to the office we need to do a thorough and systemic investigation, to identify what is LOCAL and what is SYSTEMIC/what comes from the patient’s history, in order to have a panorama of pathologies and arrive at a diagnosis.
My diagnosis for example ranges from an articular disk displacement to condylar resorptions, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, among other joint diseases.
Identifying and isolating the existing TMJ pathology and associating it with the skeletal deformity will help you guide the treatment plan and consequently you will have excellent surgical results.
