Welcome to BeLive tutorials. Today we are going to learn about the screen sharing feature.
Let’s open our Chrome browser first, enter be.live and click “Start Broadcast”
00:11-00:32
Now we are in the studio and you can see all the features on the left panel of your screen. "Share screen" will be the 3rd one from the top
While setting up the screen share for the first time, you will be asked to install the Screen Share Chrome extension
By clicking the "Add to Chrome", you will be instantly redirected to the Chrome Webstore. Let’s install the Chrome extension so we are able to use the feature.
00:33-00:41
Once it is installed, it should be highlighted in grey here near the address bar :)
Just refresh the page in the studio and you are ready to continue!
00:42- 00:55
When you click the icon, three following options become available for you:
share the entire screen;
share an application window;
share the separate Chrome tab.
Now let's dive into each of these options :
00:56-01:106
Your entire screen
This option will bring everything that you see on your screen - along with the status bar, your panels, and all the pop-up notifications that appear on your screen. Therefore, we suggest you turn on the “do not disturb mode” on your device.
01:07- 01:26
Application Window
Here you will see all available applications like your browser, Powerpoint presentation, or any other that is open on your computer at the moment.
Note that on Mac devices, you have to have the application open, but not full-screen. For Windows - the application has to be open, and not minimized. Otherwise, it won’t be available for broadcasting.
01:27-01:37
Chrome tab
You will see all tabs that are opened in this Chrome window.
Let’s test this. I’ll select a Chrome tab I want to show my audience.
01:38 - 01:52
Here it is in the staging section and let’s move into the streaming area by clicking the “Show in Stream” button.
For viewers to hear you during the broadcast while using the screen share you have to add your camera along with the screen to the streaming area, this will allow your microphone and you will be heard and seen during your LIVE.
01:53-02:09
Simply connect your camera and click on the "Show in Stream" to move it to the streaming area. Here are the layouts you can use to adjust the display.
If you want to narrate but don’t necessarily need people to see you, you can just press SOLO in the top left corner of the shared window.
02:10- 02:14
Now you are all set! Enjoy broadcasting with Be.Live
