The Rosy Wolf Snail was introduced onto the island of Hawaii in 1955 in a failed attempt as a biological control agent. The Rosy snail failed to reduce the population of its target species, the African Land snail, but it did succeed in causing the extinction of almost all of the native Hawaiian Snails.

The Giant African Land Snail, an invasive species, has been wreaking havoc on Hawaiian ecosystems for decades. Native Hawaiian flora and fauna are being decimated by these invaders. But since the Rosy Wolf snail didn't have any effect on the African snail populations, now there are two destructive snail invaders in the Hawaiian Islands!
