Custom Widget Update Interval in Android Studio
Video shows you how to create a scheduled background service to update your home screen Android widget at custom time. The default widget supports minimum of 30 minutes interval between widget refreshes and is is limited in background work. With this method you can do any background job you want and then update your widget. In the video you can see widget refresh at 10 seconds but you should definitely use bigger interval. Also my widget is using inexact alarm manager but you can replace it with exact alarm manager. This will require additional app permission but the desired time for widget update will be exact instead of approximate.
