Comparison of the FN SCAR 17s versus the Smith and Wesson M&P10. Both guns are semiautomatic rifles chambered in 308 Winchester with 16" barrels and could serve the same purposes in an arsenal. The SCAR is great performer with tons of combat experience, and the S&W MP10 is a lesser known AR10 that really brings a lot of value as it is priced at about $1000. Both guns are ambidextrous, and light weight for a semi automatic 308. Both rifles are accurate, the only real difference is one is the SCAR 17s is short stroke piston driven and the S&W is direct gas impingement.
