Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blaine for the musical, Meet Me In St. Louis. Hugh Martin composed the music. Initially, he struggled with the melody and decided to throw it in the trash. His writing partner Ralph Blaine convinced him that the song was too good to throw away and luckily after some searching they were able to find it. The song went through several revisions but was eventually performed for the first time by Judy Garland.
