Kevin Berju explains the consumer price index report that came out today. The CPI measures inflation year over year or month over month. This month, the core rate was flat at 5%, meaning there was no big increase, however this does not mean we are out of the woods yet. Inflation is still high at over 8.6%, from this time last year. This means that inflation did not fall, it just went up at a much lower rate than we had anticipated. Does this mean the fed will raise rates at the next meeting in September? We shall see, before the September meeting, we will receive another CPI and Jobs report.
