Blue Poison Dart Frog (Z Cam E2-M4 Test footage)
First test shots with my new 4K cinema camera, the Z Cam E2-M4!
Sadly, this wasn't shot on location in Suriname (the natural range of these brightly-coloured frogs)... it was actually shot at my house in Bristol, UK!
The vivid colours of poison dart frogs serve as a warning to potential predators as their skin contains powerful toxins. In nature their toxins are gained from eating alkaloid-rich prey such as ants, but in captivity, where they are fed on fruit flies, they don't aquire the toxic skin!
