Assalamu Alaikum, dear viewers! In today’s video, we will discuss Akheri Chahar Shomba, known as the last Wednesday of the Safar month. This special day holds significant importance for the Muslim Ummah. Let’s explore the historical and religious perspectives of this day.The term ‘Akheri Chahar Shomba’ comes from Arabic and Persian. ‘Akheri’ means last, and ‘Chahar Shomba’ means Wednesday. Thus, it refers to the last Wednesday of the Safar month. According to the Islamic calendar, this day is of great significance and usually falls in the first week of September in the Gregorian calendar. On this day, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) felt a sense of recovery after suffering from severe illness. His companions expressed their joy by giving charity and showing gratitude to Allah for his recovery. Many Muslims engage in various voluntary acts of worship and charity on this day.On this special day, notable companions such as Abu Bakr (RA), Umar (RA), Uthman (RA), and Ali (RA) contributed significant amounts of charity. They donated generously in celebration of the Prophet's recovery, which fostered a culture of giving among Muslims. In Bangladesh, Akheri Chahar Shomba is noted as an optional holiday in the government holiday calendar. However, there are some differences of opinion among scholars regarding the observance of this day. Many scholars argue that there is considerable disagreement about the timing of the Prophet's recovery, making it difficult to determine the religious significance of this dayIt awakens a sense of compassion and cooperation among us.Understanding the history of observing this day is essential. After the Prophet's recovery, when he came to the mosque, his companions rejoiced at his well-being and expressed their gratitude through their donations. This event represents a pivotal moment in Islamic history. Now the question arises: Is it correct to observe this day from a religious standpoint? Many Islamic scholars believe that it is not possible to identify any specific day in the Prophet's life. Some scholars discourage observing this day, as it could be considered a bid'ah (innovation). While there are differing opinions regarding the timeline of the Prophet’s illness, it ultimately comes down to personal belief.
