Bringing Dead Flowers to Life Timelapse
Hydrangea is a very delicate flower. The slightest care error or even a short period without water can cause it to wilt. But you'll be surprised to learn that a wilted hydrangea doesn't necessarily mean it's dead or dying. This lifeless, rag-like flower is full of life and only needs water. It's no coincidence that hydrangea is called Hydrangea in Latin, meaning "vessel with water." There's a simple way to revive a wilted hydrangea. Dehydration is often caused by care errors, such as not trimming the hydrangea stems before placing them in a vase. This causes the internal pressure within the stem, which ensures water rise, to fail, as air pockets form inside the stem, preventing water from rising. Another cause of water retention is pathogenic bacteria, which begin to thrive on the dying stem. Therefore, for successful rehabilitation, it is necessary to completely remove dead stem tissue where pathogenic bacteria thrive. Then, make a deep incision into the hydrangea stem to significantly increase the absorption surface. Place the flowers in very warm water (45-50 degrees Celsius). Temperature is a catalyst for biochemical processes and accelerates them. It is necessary to add floral food to the water; it nourishes the stem while inhibiting pathogenic microorganisms. If you don't have floral food, you can make your own by replacing it with sugar and a teaspoon of citric acid or sodium hypochlorite (NaClO). It is important to stop the dehydration process at the end of the rehabilitation process. How to do this? Spray water over the entire surface of the flowers and place them in a room with a lower temperature. Heat from below, cold and moisture from above—that's the secret. The flowers will definitely recover within a few hours. This method can be applied to all flowers, but it works especially well for bushy, woody flowers such as roses, lilacs, and others.
