What documents are required to import cars into Turkey?
When you enter Turkey by car, you need to show at the border:
-passport
-driving licence (you can have a domestic licence if your country is a signatory to the Vienna Convention),
-registration certificate of the vehicle,
-Green Card motor liability insurance policy.
You can apply for it in your country even online.
Car insurance in Turkey. You can buy insurance at the border. But it is more expensive, and only cash lira is accepted. If you don't have lira, you will have to go to the border exchange office.
The minimum term of validity of the policy - 3 months, the price starts from about 80 dollars. It depends on the term of validity, your driving experience and the power of the car. The term of validity of the policy should not be less than the period of your stay in Turkey.
Driving without insurance is punishable by a fine of up to 1000 euros. Do not forget to buy a new policy on time.
