MOSKVICH 2140 major CAR REPAIR or how to spend 2 years of life

Moskvich 2140. This car has been in my family for quite a long time, since about the 2000s. Before that, the Moskvich was in the family of my uncle! As long as I can remember, this Moskvich was constantly exploited as if in slavery!
Constant overloads of the car's suspension, engine, transmission!!!! And I remember the Moskvich as the most combat unit in the countryside. For more civilized trips, the family bought a VAZ 2101 car. A few problems jumped off the shoulders of the Moskvich, but it also continued to help in solving everyday problems.
At the very beginning of 2017, another VAZ 2107 car (injector) appears in the family. Since I had been riding only a motorcycle since about 2014, and public transport in the winter, I thought about a car.
I had no desire to buy a separate car, as well as no funds for it. But there were two options. The family VAZ 2101 and the MOSKVICH 2140 - both required significant repairs, as well as a lot of time for repairs! But working in a motorcycle and car repair shop, I had the opportunity to do repairs outside of working hours. There was a lift available, but I worked on cars much less than motorcycles, so the lift often stood idle.
Therefore, I decided to drive the car to another city, from my parents to my work. But I did not decide with thoughts of VAZ or MOSKVICH. In the early 80s, our family got the very first car MOSKVICH 2140 orange. At the time of this video, it was already completely disassembled, and the rotten body was scrapped. All the components and assemblies from the Moskvich were removed and stored in the attic of the garage. There were also a huge number of spare parts, since they had been assembled for years. Therefore, the choice of a car for repair was leaning in favor of the Moskvich. The condition of the engine and chassis of the car confused me a little, since I needed to drive 150 km to work, and it was early January, cold and snowy on the road. Having collected my things, food and some spare parts, I set off.
It was problematic to start the engine, and even very problematic. The starter did not turn very willingly, since mineral oil was poured in.
With great difficulty, I still left. But the engine behaved disgustingly. It felt like it had the same power as a Zaporozhets, it constantly stalled and did not hold the revs, and then it completely refused to drive at all speeds except first and then only at idle. So I drove about 120 km. The remaining 30 km I was already towed by a cable. The heater did not heat, the windows were fogged up, the cabin was freezing. But MOSKVICH decided to drive into the garage itself, they could not move up the hill by cable, so I tried to start the engine... it worked. Under its own power, I drove into the garage, where MOSKVICH will stand for exactly 2 years. At that time, I did not even imagine that major repairs or restoration would drag on for such a period of time. At that time, I only roughly imagined the picture of the repair.
