Ket Vichitvongsa was incarcerated at the age of 16 and spent the next 25 years in prison. During this time he learned the contemplative practice of Centering Prayer. A year after his release, he gave this presentation as part of the Contemplative Outreach Prison Outreach Service Team at the 2021 online International Conference of Contemplative Outreach. Ket witnesses to how Centering Prayer and the support of those that shared it with him helped him overcome feelings of self-hatred and rage, and led to his transformation into a person who could better control his emotions and most of all, sit still in the presence of God.
