The debate continues in a comparison of the 9mm 124 grain NATO FMJ to the 45 ACP 230 grain FMJ on different targets. This is a frequent and controversial topic around campfires amongst ammo nerds and 45 ACP fanboys. Is there a preference or preferred caliber if you are limited to FMJs? Is the 45 ACP significantly better than the 9mm even given that the 9mm will typically has more rounds in the gun? Was the US military's decision to switch to the 9mm a good idea or an epic fail? this video attempts to gain a better grasp of the comparison, WITHOUT empirical and anecdotal references and see how they really compare. there are no tricks just backyard ballistics at work here, if you where told by a gun counter salesman "the 9mm sucks and is for women" and the 45 will "knock someone down" or it will "explode someones head" (all comments I have heard) and were talked into a $1500 1911 and talked out of a high cap 9mm you may be disappointed. As always putting rounds on target matters most, enjoy.
