Relive Route - Willow Walks Waterfalls (Day 2, Cedar Run Trail, Shenandoah NP)
We try the Relive App to share the route of Willow's loop hike of Shenandoah National Park's Whiteoak Canyon and Cedar Run Falls trails. This approximately 8.1 mile loop passes about 8 waterfalls, some with swimming holes and 1 rock water slide. We do half the loop Day 1 and stay at an AT shelter. Day 2 we catch the sunrise at Hawksbill Summit and then complete the loop.
Day 2 we walk from Rock Spring Hut to Hawksbill Summit on the Salamander Trail to catch the sunrise. We then walk south, crossing Skyline Drive to connect with the Cedar Run Trail, passing 2 main waterfalls. The first has a natural rock water slide, and the second has a deep pool with cliff to jump off of. We finish the loop by taking the Cedar Run Trail back to the trailhead parking lot.
