NOAA Scientists address the alarming rise of microplastics in the ocean
Marine microplastics are a rapidly growing issue for our ocean. However, the field of microplastics study is relatively new, so it’s particularly challenging to find experts who work at this intersection of microplastics and the ocean. Luckily for us, Esri Chief Scientist and Oceanographer Dr. Dawn Wright interviewed two of them! In this discussion, we are joined by Dr. Ebenezer Nyadjro and Dr. Jennifer Webster from NOAA, who share their concerns and potential solutions related to this pervasive problem. Most importantly, they touch on how mapping microplastic pollution can help to expand research and funnel resource allocation towards the most vulnerable areas.
