In this video, NOAA’s Dr. Ebenezer Nyadjro discusses another serious implication of microplastic pollution: the transferal of microplastics from marine environments to humans.

“Microplastics and human health” and “microplastics in the food chain” are some of the most-Googled questions surrounding microplastics, and we wanted to cover these in greater detail. In our previous video, we were joined by Dr. Jennifer Webster, who outlined the harmful impacts of microplastics on living organisms. In this video, we take a deeper dive (no pun intended) into the microplastics field to see what researchers are currently working on when it comes to microplastics and their effects on humans.

This video is part of a series on microplastics in the ocean. In the next few videos, we will be covering the possible solutions (on a local and global level) for tackling microplastics pollution, so stay tuned! Watch the full playlist here:    • What are microplastics?
