Kongo Gumi performs for the Idemitsu end-of-year party on Dec 13, 2024, where our performing member Jon works. We are performing background music to the social event happening inside the restaurant, which is why we are facing the glass wall, but also the people who came outside to watch. It was a bit windy, but the rain let up the afternoon of our performance and started again right after we packed out. It was a pretty unique setup and more reactive of a set, so not something super planned out or rehearsed. I like to maintain a general readiness to be able to play at least a 30 min set with little prep, so this was good practice for us. We don't record our sets often, but given the unique stage, I set the phone to record.

Kongo Gumi is a class/ensemble that is part of Koyasan Spirit of Children Taiko, a program of the Northern California Koyasan Temple. We perform regularly, mostly in the Sacramento area.
