Stick to games is an online drum tutorial that highlights some of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time. In this show, we learn a little bit about the game and the composers of the tracks, then we break down the drum parts and identify the fundamental concepts that make the drum pattern work.
Today’s episode: We make a return to the Castlevania series appropriately as we use Yamane’s “Clashing of Waves” to discuss the use of ghost notes. Ghost notes can be presented in a multitude of ways on paper and often times are implied rather than notated. As we learn in this video, however, applying them in practice can add a lot of expression and nuance to your drumming, especially when you add other effects to them such as buzzes and crushes.
