Stick To Games: Binary Form
Stick to games is an online drum tutorial that highlights some of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time. In this show, we learn a little bit about the game and the composers of the tracks, then we break down the drum parts and identify the fundamental concepts that make the drum pattern work.
Today’s episode: A nice little three-piece groove set up from Kondo’s “Make Eggs, Throw Egg’s” that also gives us the chance to talk about musical form. Form is the way musical ideas are organized and can help provide composers direction in telling their story musically. Here, we compliment Kondo’s use of Binary form with contrasting drum sections as well as melody.
