The Boy: How A Sequel Can Ruin A Great Horror Concept

A lot of horror movies that have been successful try as best as they can to create a franchise of movies based around the concept of their original success. One such trope that has been a success for multiple franchises is a possessed/supernatural child's doll. The amount of films based around this concept has caused the film market to become very saturated with these films, causing a fatigue of these types of films.

However, in 2016, a film came out that looked like it focused around this tired trope but made a great twist that turned this trope on its head, making for an amazing concept off a overused trope. With the success of this film, they created a sequel but unfortunately, this sequel turns what was a great concept in its first film, into a screw up of new lore dumps and unwanted supernatural elements.
