WINKELTANZ
With the aural combination of saxophone, violin, bagpipes, and Bohemian harp, ‘Winkeltanz’ stand for a fresh approach to traditional dance music of Central Europe. Daniela Heiderich (harp, bagpipes, vocals), Lucia Wagner (violin, saxophone, bagpipes, vocals), and Michael Vereno (bagpipes, violin, vocals) have joined their years-long musical experience in a venture for new musical creativity.
The trio's repertoire combines traditional and contemporary music. They interpret dances and songs from historical sources as well as their own compositions. In music, Winkeltanz span four centuries and various European musical traditions.
Both in small and large settings, sitting down or standing, and especially in dancing, they guarantee for energizing musical interpretation and light-footed groove. The band's name ("corner dance") alludes to the secret dance events of past centuries - a monument to the irreplaceable and irrevocable boundlessness of art and culture.
