In February, we embarked on a journey to beautiful Kashmir and our third stop was the breathtaking Pahalgam. Join us as we discover the wonders of this charming valley and experience its stunning natural beauty
Pahalgam is a hill station in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Mountain trails run northeast to Amarnath Cave Temple, a Hindu shrine and site of the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary is home to brown bears and musk deer. Northeast, the Lidder River runs through scenic Betaab Valley. Southeast, Tullian Lake is flanked by mountain peaks and is often frozen.
There are many places and activities to do while you are in Pahalgam. Some of them are :
1. Horse Riding: Explore the picturesque landscapes of Pahalgam on horseback.
2. Trekking: There are several trekking routes in Pahalgam, ranging from easy to challenging.
3. River Rafting: The Lidder River in Pahalgam offers opportunities for river rafting and kayaking.
4. Angling: Pahalgam is famous for its trout fishing opportunities in the Lidder River.
5. Skiing: During the winter months, Pahalgam offers skiing opportunities on the nearby slopes.
6. Wildlife Safari: The nearby forests are home to a variety of wildlife, including the Asiatic black bear, leopards, and musk deer. Take a wildlife safari to spot some of these animals in their natural habitats.
7. Hot Springs: Take a dip in the hot springs at Sheshnag, which are believed to have therapeutic properties.
8. Amarnath Yatra: Pahalgam is a popular starting point for the annual Amarnath Yatra, a Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave.
