With a chromatographic analysis the quantitation is directly related to the area under the curve. When an internal standard is used, The quantitation is directly related to respective the ratios. that is the ratio [of the area under the curve for the target] divided by the [area under the curve of the internal standard].
PLANT THIS IDEA: The amount of internal standard does not matter as long as it is the same. The calculations do not use the amount of internal standard, or rather, if the amount is the same, the amount of internal standard falls out of the calculations.
