I wrote Forever young in Tucson. I composed it thinking of one of my guys trying not to be too sentimental. The lines came to me alone, I did it all in a minute.

Allen Ginsberg said that every child should sing this song every morning in every school in every country. It’s a very nice idea as the song is full of hope and encourages people to find their own truth.
Fraboni: We had been listening for a minute or two and I was so fascinated that I didn’t realize that Bob had entered the studio. Then when it came time to prepare the master, I was determined to keep that shot. I didn’t even consult him. Bob told me, What do you do with this, we’re not gonna use it?
What do you mean, you’re not gonna use it? In fact during the garbacion of Planet waves, Jackie De Shannon and Donna Weiss came one afternoon , and that girl who, after listening Forever Young told him" But hey, Bob you still get sentimental at your age?.
It was because of this comment that Bob wanted to remove this version from the album and I told him I was against it. For this reason the slow version closes the side one of the disc and the fast version opens the side two.
Sad eyed Lady Of the Lowlands. Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, confessed that listening to Dylan’s song transformed him from an artistic point of view. Sad eyed Lady Of the Lowlands changed my life. When I heard it, I said to myself, if Bob could do such a long song, I could also... is an entire album. (Roger Waters)

Escribí Forever young en Tucson. La compuse pensando en uno de mis chicos tratando de no ser demasiado sentimental. Las frases me vinieron solas, la hice toda en un minuto.

Allen Ginsberg dijo que todos los niños deberian cantar cada mañana esta canción en todas las escuelas de todos los países. Es una idea muy bonita ya que la canción está llena de esperanza y anima a la gente a encontrar su propia verdad.
Fraboni: Hacía uno o dos minutos que la estábamos escuchando y estaba tan fascinado que no me dí cuenta de que Bob había entrado en el estudio. Luego cuando llegó el momento de preparar el master, estaba decidido a quedarme con esa toma. Ni siquiera lo consulté. Bob me dijo : Que haces con esto ¿ No vamos a utilizarlo?
¿Cómo que no vas a utilizarla,estás loco, Por qué? De hecho durante la garbacion de Planet waves, Jackie De Shannon y Donna Weiss vinieron una tarde , y esa chica que, tras escuchar forever Young le dijo ”¿ Pero bueno,Bob aun te pones sentimental a tu edad?.
Fue debido a este comentario que Bob quiso eliminar esta versión del disco y yo le dije que estaba en contra. Por este motivo la versión lenta cierra la cara uno del disco y la versión rápida abre la cara dos.
Sad eyed Lady Of the Lowlands. Roger Waters de Pink Floyd , confesó que escuchar la cancion de Dylan lo transformó desde el punto de vista artístico.
