Think Regionally, Plan Locally: This session will present dialogue on the importance of local and regional cooperation in designing trail networks. Practitioners will learn best practices and approaches for implementing local plans within a regional system. Concepts to be discussed will include trail planning and design, connecting local trails to The Loop, the inclusion of trail plans into local master plans, and advantages of the regional planning approach.
Managing Trails & Partnership: Responsibility for trail maintenance and management often cross local jurisdictions and require partnership from multiples agencies and municipal departments. In this session, trail planning professionals will share strategies and best practices for trail management and maintenance on the Loop. This session will cover the importance of forming partnerships, leveraging cross-county resources, developing volunteer programs such as Adopt-a-Mile Program, Trail Ranger Programs, etc.
