The Sound of Silence
Another visit to Hermann Hesse’s old stomping grounds. His uncle used to live in a house next to the cloister ruins of nearby Hirsau. So he often walked the 2 km along the river to this very special place. Apparently so did I as a kid a few times, my mother told me, but I don’t remember.
When we accidentally rediscovered this place on our visit to Calw a few weeks ago, we were immediately enchanted by the magic of it, even more so because we came late and were the only visitors.
I knew I wanted to come back and play some music here, with or without an audience. The birds, the beetles and the stones would be good enough. Of course I took some photos as well and towards the end we sat down our 2 phones and captured some of the songs we played in the beautiful ruins of cloister Hirsau.
