Sometimes the best way to bring originality to your beat programming is to add some sounds to which no one else has access - by recording them yourself.

In this episode, Jono is going to record some homespun percussion samples by plugging in his microphone and clapping, tapping, clicking and brushing his hands (and a coffee cup) to produce a handful of short samples. Using the Gain Tool introduced in V10.7.5, Jono will then show you how you can equalise the volume of these before re-sampling them in Drum Machine Designer. He'll explore Classic and One Shot sample playback modes and then create a Pattern Region for the new sounds to play alongside some existing, programmed beats. Things you hadn't anticipated will always happen when you make recordings of your own - embrace the unexpected!
