Introduction to Energy
Nuclear fusion that occurs in the Sun emits a form of energy that brightens our world during the day. And when it sets, the moon reflects its light to brighten the night. BUT there is another form of energy we call electricity that also provides light.
These will be our goal for today
1. define energy,
2. name the sources of energy and the forms of energy.
3. differentiate the words: source and form
What is energy?
Energy is the ability to do work.
We have defined energy.
The sources can be renewable or non-renewable. When we say renewable, it means it is sustainable. When we say, non-renewable, it means it can be depleted.

Renewable Non-renewable
The sources of energy contain different forms. These forms of energy can be energy in motion or energy at rest.
Energy in motion is called kinetic energy while the energy at rest is called potential energy.
Forms
Kinetic is energy in motion
Potential is energy at rest
Examples of renewable sources of energy are hydroelectric power plants or stations, geothermal, fuel cells, biomass, solar, wind, and tidal.
Examples of non-renewable sources of energy are coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear.

This energy source contains forms of energy. The forms of energy can either be kinetic or potential.

We have named the sources of energy and their forms.
A source of energy produces a particular form of energy.
Example:
The sun is fueled by nuclear fusion that emits forms of energy like solar, radiant, and thermal energy. Nuclear fusion is the source of energy. The forms of energy are solar, radiant, and thermal.
We have differentiated the words: source and form.
