WEA Speak Out participant Valerie talks about doing the course
Public speaking fills most people with dread, including residents of Hollingdean in Brighton & Hove who took part in a WEA Speak Up course to overcome their fears and voice their views at a Speakers' Corner event.
The event was part of a Neighbourhood Governance pilot run by Brighton & Hove City Council, involving residents from Hollingdean & Stanmer wards, and supported by the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC). Councillors and council offices were present to hear and respond to residents' views on a range of subjects.
