RV Table Modification
The table pedestal in our 2019 Grand Design Reflection 297rsts was a constant source of aggravation. For me, since I am a big guy, the chairs were difficult to get in and out of. For both Rennie and I, the pedestal left little room to put our feet. So, I designed this wall mount to replace the pedestal. The fabricator charged me $150 to make the support, including materials. On our unit, the electrical outlet wiring was in the aluminum tubing framing. I cut the notch a little longer to the left, and turned the outlet in a horizontal orientation, which allowed me to center my new table support in the very center of the space. I checked with Grand Design before I did any drilling in the floor of the slide out. They said my floor was 5/8” marine grade plywood, so I made sure that any screws would not penetrate any more than ½”. If you have a different make or model, you should check with your manufacturer before screwing anything to the floor, especially on a slide out.
One thing surprised me... I found that the wall on the slide was not square to the floor. It was a couple of degrees more than 90. As Trent and Allie would say, "It was a hair out of square."
