The World Turned Upside Down: Exploring Dementia Through Theatre
This is a teaser for a documentary film which will come out later this year from the IDEAL programme. 'The World Turned Upside Down' was a play performed in Exeter in January 2022. It was a theatrical exploration of how we can hear the voice of people with dementia.
We staged five scenarios around tipping points where communication could break down. The scenes were improvised and the audience got to feedback on how they thought communication could be improved. The final film will be an educational resource freely available to all.
