In Part 2 of Scaling the Summits, we take on the ultimate challenge - Mont Blanc (4,807m), Western Europe's highest peak. After successfully summiting Gran Paradiso, we set our sights on the iconic Italian (Pope) Route, a gruelling 40km round trip with 3,500 metres of accumulated climbing. Watch as we navigate a brutal approach day through treacherous glacier remnants and via ferrata sections to reach Gonella Hut, before waking at midnight to begin our 18-hour push to the summit. Experience the physical and mental toll of climbing at altitude, the breathtaking views across three countries from the peak, and the nail-biting descent that tested every ounce of our remaining strength. This is mountaineering is a test of endurance, friendship, and the human spirit's capacity to push beyond perceived limits.
“It is always the same with mountains. Once you have lived with them for any length of time, you belong to them. There is no escape.” ― Ruskin Bond
