Welcome to module 3 of the 'Introduction to Veterinary Nursing' course with Assistant Director of Veterinary Nursing Distance Learning at Purdue University, Josh Clark. This module explores the role and importance of professional organizations in veterinary medicine and the pressing need for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field. Gain a deeper understanding of why these organizations exist and why diversity and inclusion are crucial in this profession. Notably, despite Black, Hispanic, native, and Asian Americans constituting 40% of the population, over 90% of veterinarians are white. Complementing these topics, the module focuses on the learning and review of acronyms, abbreviations, and animal nomenclature, as well as an in-depth reading of chapters three and four of the "Quick Medical Terminology" textbook.
