"Intel Advancing 5 Nodes in 4 Years, Today There is More to a CPU Than Just Cores"
Everyone should be familiar with the concept of ‘Moore’s law’. Intel in the past three years has been on a torrid pace to build 5 nodes in four years. In addition to the geometry reduction in these nodes there have been significant design innovations to further advance the state of the art of the world’s most advance manufacturing process, building semiconductor based CPU’s.
From AI innovations to advances in architecture for special functions like vRAN acceleration in the CPU architecture, to innovations like Power-Via, and uncore power management. This talk will span these innovations as the node architecture moved from 10nm to the 18A (angstrom) era with 14A on the horizon."
Speaker Bio:
Larry Horner is a senior Life member of IEEE, the IEEE CVT chair, Senior Solution Architect and Principal Engineer at Intel. He has been co-chair of the IEEE ComSoc NFV/SDN conference for 7 years, and has spent nearly 40 years in the Telco industry, holds multiple U.S. Patents. He is also lead co-author of the book ‘Virtualizing 5G and Beyond 5G Mobile Network’.
