Simon Kendal of Doug and the Slugs: I believe it was 1984, we’d finished ‘Popaganda’ and thought we’d have some fun with ‘White Christmas’. We had to Slug it up however. It was our first adventure with a (Linn) drum machine providing the beat and cheesy handclaps, and we went surf/punk/electro with our tongues firmly in cheek. I expect we had pulled it out as a throwaway tune at some December gig and decided to record it. We joked that it would be our biggest hit, but we were wrong again...
