After giving each of my kids a hug and sitting to talk with them the next best thing about being home was being able to take a nice hot bubble bath.
When things are super stressful, but I am safe at home and have some time; my very favorite relaxation technique is to take a nice hot bubble bath. I light my scented candles, turn out the lights, warn my kids not to come in unless there is an emergency, turn on my most soothing, calming music – and fill the tub with piping hot water. I use my favorite body wash and then just relax for a while listening to the music and trying to clear my mind of all thoughts, and just enjoy the warm-all over feeling of comfort that envelopes me being submerged in hot water.
Do you like bubble baths? Why – or why not?
What kind of scents do you like the best?
Do you like candles? If so, which type are your favorite?
If you do not love a bath – what kind of thing do you enjoy to give yourself that warm, feeling of total relaxation?
Is there a way you can fit some of that into your day today?
After my hot bath, the feeling of climbing into my OWN bed was amazing. Fresh crisp sheets and a soft cuddly blanket always feels so luxurious to me. This feeling was intensified following the experience of sleeping on the hospital sofa-bed. I never appreciated my wonderful BIG bed as much as I did that first night home from the hospital!
Do you like your bed?
What is your favorite blanket?
What are your favorite pillows or stuffed animals?
