Lightweighting and innovative joining technologies
One way of combining mobility with energy conservation is lightweighting. Hereon is helping realize this potential by developing innovative joining technologies. We research new materials and processes with an approach that spans systems as well as their internal hierarchies. In doing so, we consider fundamental processes and their potential, beginning at the nanoscale. We are systematically coupling digital AI methods and computer simulations with high-resolution tomography techniques.
