Isolation Transformers are specialized transformers designed to decouple or isolate electrical circuits. They provide a galvanic isolation, meaning there's no direct electrical connection between the input and output, which enhances safety and prevents noise and interference from being transferred from one circuit to another.

How Isolation Transformers Work
Basic Principle:

An isolation transformer operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction. It has two windings: a primary winding connected to the input and a secondary winding connected to the output.
These windings are electrically isolated but magnetically coupled through a core, usually made of laminated iron or ferrite.
Induction:

When an alternating current (AC) flows through the primary winding, it creates a varying magnetic field in the core.
This varying magnetic field induces a voltage in the secondary winding, which provides the output voltage.
Turns Ratio:

The voltage level of the output can be the same, higher, or lower than the input voltage, depending on the turns ratio of the windings. However, in true isolation transformers, the primary and secondary voltages are often the same (1:1 ratio).
Safety and Noise Reduction:

Isolation transformers block the transmission of DC components and any common-mode noise or interference that might be present on the input side.
They also provide safety by isolating the user and sensitive equipment from direct contact with the mains electricity, reducing the risk of electric shock.
Applications of Isolation Transformers
Medical Equipment:

Used to isolate patients and sensitive medical devices from the mains supply to prevent electrical shock and interference from other devices.
Industrial Machinery:

Used in industrial settings to protect machinery and operators from electrical faults and to isolate circuits for maintenance purposes.
Telecommunications:

Used to prevent ground loops and signal interference in communication systems.
Laboratory and Test Equipment:

Used in labs to provide a clean and isolated power source for precise measurements and tests.
Audio and Video Equipment:

Used to eliminate hum and noise in audio and video equipment by breaking ground loops and isolating different sections of the equipment.
Computers and IT Equipment:

Used to protect computers and IT equipment from electrical surges, spikes, and noise from the power supply.
