Getting ready to get out on trail and want to know if there’s a wildfire near the area you plan on going hiking or backpacking?
Use onX Backcountry’s Active Wildfire layer to help you get up-to-date information so you can figure out where it’s safe to go out in the backcountry.
To turn on the Active Wildfire layer through the onX Backcountry app:
1️⃣ Tap the Layers button in the bottom, lefthand corner of your screen.
2️⃣ Scroll through the Trail Layers until you see Active Wildfire
3️⃣ Click on the Active Wildfires layer icon
🔥Red flame icons mark the locations of current active wildfires on the map.🔥
The Active Wildfire layer is updated daily with important information regarding the fire like the exact location and description of the fire, current acreage and the percentage of the fire contained.
⚠️ Active Wildfire layer will not update on offline maps. Make sure you use this tool when planning your trips, well before you get to the trailhead and lose cell and WiFi service.
