Hurricane Helene & Milton Relief Efforts
Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in Florida, hitting an already struggling Gulf Coast with wind speeds of 100 miles per hour and dangerous storm surges. This came within two weeks of Hurricane Helene inundating communities from Florida to Tennessee with storm surge and heavy rainfall. Helene has also claimed the lives of nearly 250 people across the Southeast.
Many communities are still struggling with access issues, a lack of power and water, and school closures. There are also thousands of people still displaced due to severe damage or complete destruction of their homes.
