Virgin Galactic VSS Unity spacecraft makes a successful flight
Virgin Galactic's spacecraft, VSS Unity, completed its first successful space flight in more than two years this Saturday (22). The crew of the aircraft flew over an altitude of more than 13,400 meters before landing safely.
The company has already attempted a flight of the Unity spacecraft from the America Space Station, in New Mexico (USA), in December last year. Taken by the "mothership" VMS Eve, Unity reached 15 km in altitude, as planned, but failed to start the propeller that would take it for the remaining 85 km into space. Despite the failure, pilots C.J. Sturckow and Dave Mackay landed the spacecraft without incident.
