Pollock
is one - out of seven - musical portraits, where paintings are allowed to develop their insinuated dimension of time, and therefore to express motion.
Although some years before its discovery, Pollock’s work is believed to be related to “Fractals” of the Chaos Theory. Forms and shapes in Pollock's paintings are formed by the same explosive impulse and feeling, thus being variations of the same two or three patterns. This is why these revolutionary paintings maintain a solid aesthetic unity. It is the same that happens in nature, when for example a volcanic explosion creates mountains and islands of extreme natural beauty. This beauty is due to the fact that they are formed by the same power of this creative explosion. And this can be recognized by our mind as aesthetic unity.
In this musical portrait composition I copied the painters’ techniques and strategies, trying to create an equivalent compositional technique and musically describe his world.
I do not believe in verbatim "translations" from one form of art to another. Yet the deeper philosophical, aesthetic parallels and equivalents may really be reconceived and recreated from one to another form of art (i. e. Impressionism).
