Piano Concerto No.1
is a praise to modern Man's solitary heroism.
The pianist inside the orchestra describes the Individual inside its own world.
This
is why the orchestra's sonority at times
tends to produce the piano's sound-aura.
Sometimes soothing, sometimes hostile and some other times being astonishingly indifferent, the pianist's outer, borderline orchestral self is also an unknown land to
be conquered. Now and then the external
world trespasses unexpectedly in, through
the orchestra and towards the pianist. The external world is the first to awaken
his personality by attacking him fiercely.
Later on and at times the external world makes its presence obvious again, to the depths of the individual’s soul. It appears negatively or positively, as the cold wind of a sudden menace or as the warm waves of unexpected external help.
Everything finally fought or assimilated, submitted,
homogenized inside the individual’s inner atmosphere before it is reradiated as
elements of personality and communication. Enclosed in his own self and inside an alienated surrounding world, a sensitive
individual struggles to find its way to self-assurance, to escape fears, to overcome
tempestuous difficulties, to survive. To fight, to flee, to overcome, to win and conquer,
to manage defeats.
This struggle is endless, huge and painful. A man’s survival in modern times proves to be a real "Solitary Heroism” that is constantly happening inside all of us.
